Education & Awareness
Our Community Engagement Department uplifts and supports our mission to educate the community about the cause, impact, and prevention of sexual violence.
We aim to spark meaningful conversations, challenge misconceptions, and inspire action towards our collective mission through workshops, guiding materials, and harnessing both traditional and digital platforms. Our awareness campaigns include Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
Workshops + Tabling
We provide workshops for youth (12-25), parents, caregivers, and community members throughout Salt Lake County. We fulfill requests for school teachers, community partners, collegiate and student organizations, religious institutes and more. We also can table at your event.
Education Through Curricula
We have created a free curriculum — Our Families, Our Health, A violence prevention curriculum for the Latinx community — which you can implement as an educator or community member. The lessons teach skills that focus on preventing violence, creating healthy relationships, and being the voice to spark change.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month
#SAAM2025
Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Each April, we recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) by supporting survivors, raising awareness, and engaging our community in meaningful action to prevent sexual violence. Through events, education, and advocacy, we invite everyone to take part in fostering a culture of consent, respect, and healing.
Our annual SAAM campaign highlights the importance of collective action in creating a safer community. To learn more about this year’s theme, upcoming events, and ways to get involved, visit our SAAM campaign page.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Teen dating violence is a public health crisis affecting millions of teens in the U.S. each year. In Utah, 1 in 3 teens will experience some form of abuse in a relationship.
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month. This is an important topic that needs to be discussed thoroughly and without judgment. To combat teenagers being at risk of falling into a violent relationship, it is important to teach topics such as what healthy relationships look like, warning signs for abuse, and what consent is and looks like.
